Myth 1: Dentures are only for older patients
Tooth loss happens at every age — trauma, failed dentistry, congenital conditions, and disease are not limited to retirement. The prosthesis is designed for the mouth in front of us, not an age bracket.
Myth 2: You cannot eat normally
A well-planned denture or implant-supported prosthesis restores a great deal of chewing. Adaptation takes time, and some foods are harder at first. Slipping and sore spots are signs the fit or occlusion needs attention, not proof that dentures “just feel that way.”
Myth 3: All dentures slip
Loose dentures are common when they were never designed precisely, or when the jaw has changed and the denture was never relined. Precision removable work and implant retention exist specifically to improve stability.
Myth 4: One pair lasts a lifetime
Acrylic wears. Teeth abrade. Gums and bone remodel. Relines, rebases, or new dentures are normal maintenance, often over a span of years rather than decades without any change.
Myth 5: Any office can make them the same way
Dentures are prosthodontic devices. Fit, bite, and facial support are specialty work. Our office includes an on-site laboratory so try-ins and refinements happen here, not after a long round-trip to an outside lab.

Do dentures always need adhesive?
A well-fitting denture should not depend on a thick layer of adhesive to stay in place. Adhesive is sometimes used as a supplement, not as a substitute for fit.
Are implant dentures the only stable option?
Implants add retention for many patients. Precision removable dentures can also be stable when the anatomy and design support it. The mouth decides.
How often should dentures be checked?
At least as often as your regular dental visits. Come sooner if the denture rocks, rubs, or has broken.
